Durga is of ancient India. She is the guardian and protector of nature and women... she sits on a tiger with many high rulings over the earth and keeps everything in balance.
It was said that she was just a mere human who was brave and caring and loving and took action to bring peace during the time when there was a God who was being a bad bully and exploited his power by enslaving humans. He trampled the weak and vulnerable.
She defeated him and protected life on earth bring love, joy, and prosperity. It empowers me to remember that in those times it was even more difficult for women but they were brave, so I should be brave as well. I don't know where my courage went but over the years I feel like I have been gradually stripped of it being a young black woman entrepreneur, an artist with kinky hair who decided to focus on personal development before becoming a wife and mother, or I should say a "baby mother" of children with separate daddies, living in the stigma of the societal norm within the black community. I am feeling empowered from this story of Durga and I call upon her for courage to face society.
How are you feeling?
